BILLY GIBBONS DOES THE BLUES AT BROOKLYN BOWL!

The Blues. If you’re a fan of Rock and Roll, I can assure you that your favorite guitarist, vocalist, or any member of the band has been

 influenced by the Blues.

Or at least their influences have been most certainly. ZZ Top front man Billy Gibbons brought his Big Bad Blues Tour to The Brooklyn Bowl in Las Vegas November 16th 2018, and played to a nearly packed house.Joined on stage by drummer Matt Sorum of Guns ‘N’ Roses, Velvet Revolver fame,  left handed guitarist Austin Hanks, and Elwood Francis on harmonica, Billy and the boys flooded the concert hall with the passionate and gritty sounds of the blues that is so ingrained into them all.

Of course it was great to hear the good old ZZ Top hits like “Jesus just left Chicago” or “Just Got Paid”, but for me personally, I was thoroughly enjoying the true blues tunes like “Missin’ Your Kissin’” and “Treat Her Right”

Matt Sorum who has played with Billy Gibbons before on the Kings of Chaos Tour with the late Chester Bennington of Linkin Park and Corey Taylor of Slipknot, just to name a few, was obviously having the time of his life as he dazzled the crowd with his percussion skills.IMG_4837

Austin Hanks coming a long way from his humble beginnings in Alabama, is no stranger to the music scene. Hanks has played with such greats as Blues Traveler, The Black Crows, Allman Brothers, Ted Nugent and Bad Company. Hanks also penned his first single “Flyin’ High” that was featured on the 2012 ZZ Top release La Futura.

I don’t know too much about Elwood Francis, other than being Billy’s guitar tech, but the kid sure as hell was great on harmonica, and is no slouch by any means.

If you didn’t catch this show, you most definitely missed out. Do yourself a favor and catch this tour if it comes back around. You will not be dissatisfied.
