KINGDOM COME ROCKS VAMP’D!

Count’s Vamp’d was the place to be Friday October 5th 2018 when German heavy metal band Kingdom Come stopped in Vegas during their 30th Anniversary tour. After going through many line-up changes since their debut in 1987, drummer James Kottak was inspired to put the band back together to celebrate their 30 year mark. Kottak was joined by other original band mates, guitarists Danny Stag and Rick Steier, bassist Johnny B. Frank.  Although original singer Lenny Wolf declined he wished the guys all the best as they hit the road with former Montrose and & Lynch Mob vocalist Keith St. John.

I admit to IMG_4796being a bit skeptical prior to the show, but as soon as these guys started playing their blues based metal, I was instantly overtaken by well they sounded.  I was in my senior year of high school when I first heard Kingdom Come, and remember loving these guys despite the controversy surrounding them. The band had to struggle with critics because of Lenny Wolf’s vocal stylings sounding so similar to Robert Plant yet there was no denying that Kingdom Come was putting out good solid rock thIMG_4799at true music fans could enjoy.IMG_4753

I was captivated by vocal range of Keith St. John as he sang songs from the bands many albums over the past 3 decades. Danny Stag and Rick Steier traded back and forth on lead guitar parts the whole time keeping the crowd dazzled with each bend of the strings. Bassist Johnny B. Frank was also very entertaining as he laid down the groove that I could feel pulsating in my chest. But the show stopper was definitely drummer James Kottak who after playing their hit Get It on, climbed on to his drum set and jumped up to the lighting structure only to swing out and drop onto center stage.

I thoroughly enjoyed these guys and from the reaction of the full house at Count’s Vamp’d I would say I was not alone on that sentiment. So long for now. Catch ya’ the next show!!! Keep your horns held high Vegas!!
