SONS OF APOLLO ROCK BROOKLYN BOWL!Supergroups are thing that have sometimes come and gone in the rock world over the last few years. One that seems to have the staying
power, SONS OF APOLLO,
performed at the Brooklyn Bowl in Las Vegas on April 27th, 2018.
If you were going to start a supergroup, why not start with two guys who are arguably the best to ever take up their craft? That is exactly what SONS OF APOLLO have done in starting with the legendary Billy Sheehan on bass and Mike Portnoy on drums. SONS OF APOLLO didn’t stop there as they added Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal from Guns-N-Roses on guitar, Mike Portnoy’s DREAM THEATER bandmate Derek Sherinian on keys, and former YNGWIE MALMSTEEN vocalist Jeff Scott Soto on vocals.
What set this supergroup apart is that aside from a couple of DREAM THEATER covers, they played all original music. Music written mostly by Sherinian solely for the purpose of SONS OF APOLLO.
Although the crowd remained engaged through the original works, the loudest roar may have came from the encore when the band broke into “The Cradle Will Rock” from VAN HALEN.
SONS OF APOLLO definitely has the staying power and the legends within the group to remain active and successful for quite some time – Which is definitely evident by the amazing debut release and show at the Brooklyn Bowl!.
