When I got an email to cover Slam Fest at the Palms Casino and Resort, I was intrigued. I thought to myself: “Now there’s something that looks cool and kind of interesting!” Wrestling was all abuzz in town with Wrestlemania taking over the allegiant stadium but the Palms was actually doing some really cool events that seemed more interesting to me.
I didn’t know too much about wrestling other than what my daughter tells me and she is crazy about the entire wrestling scene. In fact she got married during Wrestlemania last year dressed up like Charlotte Flair and her husband dressed up like Cody Rhodes! Definitely two hard core wrestling fans!

So I dived right in from the first day April 15th with daily live reports on my social media as well as catching all the events.
The first day featured WWE Hall of Famer wrestling legend Mick Foley who did a Q&A/Meet and Greet with fans up at The Ghost Bar. Mick was absolutely hilarious and had amazing stories.
Day two had two exciting matches in The Pearl Theatre. The first was the Consejo Mundial De Lucha Libre. It was the first time the event was held outside of Mexico in it’s 90 plus year history. The event looked sold out and the crowd was extremely excited!
But The House of Glory event was off the charts! I have never seen so many amazing athletics with Charismatic Wrestlers in person! I am now a huge fan of Brody King and Shotzi Blackheart who are also my daughter’s favorite!
The match between Brody King and Zilla Fatu was one of the best I have ever seen! It was extremely exciting and definitely my favorite match!
Friday’s highlights included Popular Wrestler Saraya who did her Podcast up at the Ghostbar. She was absolutely amazing and had great guests including RJ City and Mick Foley. I asked Mick Foley a great question which you can watch here:

Saraya did trivia games and had volunteers come onstage to do wrestling moves with her.
Saraya is a great interviewer and she is an absolute beautiful doll inside and out!

Another treat during Saraya’s podcast was my friend Tyler Burgess from American Monster and his guitarist who did a killer acoustic set for two songs including one of their newest releases. Tyler used to be in the popular band Falling In Reverse before going out on his own. Tyler is not only extremely talented but he is very sweet and very hot! So Keep your eyes out for him and his great band!

On Saturday the excitement continued at the Pool. Many known wrestlers took advantage of the VIP section with delicious food and drinks.

Onstage a battle of a pizza eating contest took place between the Fire Fighters and Police Force for a cash prize for their favorite charities. MojoMuhtadi MC’d the event and The Fire Fighters took the prize but it was close!

I was keeping my eyes open for Wrestling legendary ICON and Hall of Famer Ric Flair who was announced that he was going to make an appearance at the Pool event. I waited in the Sun all day waiting for him but was entertained while watching the Wrestlemania event live on the Big screens.
I gave up on Ric at 6pm because The Hardy Party was soon starting up at the GhostBar. I spoke to a nice gentleman named Joe who gave me my tickets for the matches and asked him what happened to Ric Flair at the pool. He was surprised he didn’t show up since they paid him to be there. He told me they hesitated to put him on the schedule this year since it didn’t work out last year. I understand because after all, such a legend is in demand!
It was the last night of the event and I was disappointed I missed Ric. They said he made appearances on property but I was obviously busy running from event to event. I asked Joe if Ric might come up to The Hardy Party and he said no.

But I still went up the party and was looking forward to seeing legendary tag team icons Matt and Jeff Hardy. Matt gave an entertaining appearance with funny stories followed by Jeff who did a full set of his original material.
Sometime during the party, the guy sitting beside me came back and he said people were taking photos out on the patio. “Of who?” I asked. He said with Tom Macdonald, who I just
assumed was a wrestler. And since I was doing press and covering the event, I went over to Tom and asked to take his photo. “Don’t you want to be in the photo with me?” he asked.
So I said “Sure”. He was very nice and we talked for a few minutes. A week passed and everyone saw my photo with him on my Facebook and social media. They were so jealous I met him and that he is an amazing singer! Wow! I just thought he was a nice person!

At the end of the party, I decided to wait around to get a photo with Jeff since he looked so hot LOL. I waited patiently for all the VIPs to get their photos and I was just about to get my picture with Jeff and guess who at that moment came over to shake Jeff’s hand but Ric Flair! I took a quick photo of them both and then took my photo with Jeff.
I searched out Ric and saw him sitting down. I introduced myself and said Mojo was trying to get an interview set up with me and him but he said he had been drinking and couldn’t do an interview. I asked for a photo and he was very nice and invited me to sit down and we had a nice chat. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! I got my photo! YAY!
What a perfect ending to an exciting four days!

I was sad to hear Slam Fest won’t be back next year as Wrestlemania will be in Saudi Arabia.
But I would really like to thank Celena Haas-Stacey for inviting me to cover the event and especially Michaelle Loosbrock from the Jeff Wagner Agency for keeping in contact with me throughout the event for all my questions and requests!
I look forward to attending an event this exciting in the future!
